Visualize ideas – Visualization with drawings

Visualization is as simple as drawing a picture, taking a photo, making a map…

visualization by drawing

When you are saying to your boss or teammates that you are making a product, it’s a must that you prepare a presentation and guide audiences to your ideal product. Presentation is the visualization. You could draw as simple as colours, Symbols, lines, and more detailed as videos, diagrams, photos when you talk. You don’t want them to imagine in their way which may be on a different track. It’s easier to draw agreement when people have something to see and can help them visualize your thoughts.

IT projects use wireframes or prototypes for presentation.

According to Usability.gov,
“A wireframe is a visual illustration of one Web page. It’s simply meant to illustrate the features, content and links that need to appear on a page so that your design team can mock up a visual interface and your programmers understand the page features and how they are supposed to work. One of the main purposes of a wireframe is to show you where each item should be placed on a page.”

Example of wireframe of a website

For Wikipedia,
A prototype is “an early sample, model or release of a product built to test a concept or process or to act as a thing to be replicated or learned from. … A prototype is designed to test and trial a new design to enhance precision by system analysts and users. Prototyping serves to provide specifications for a real, working system rather than a theoretical one.”

Usually either Wireframes or prototypes is enough. They serve similar purpose but they also differs. Using which one is completely dependent on the project, as well as your stakeholder and clients’ needs. But never forget – visualize your concept to align your idea with others!
